DNC Cyber Intrusion

Note the terminology, a Cyber intrusion is the unauthorized act of spying, snooping, and stealing information through cyber space. Victims of cyber intrusion are often unaware of their vulnerability.  I will use this term, vice hacking as it is more precise to the case at hand.  The operative wording is: unauthorized act, whether committed by a outsider or insider.

“Russian government hackers penetrated the computer network of the Democratic National Committee and gained access to the entire database of opposition research on GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to committee officials and security experts who responded to the breach.” Washington Post.

NB! There is no reference to DNC emails in this report.

Cyber-technology firm Crowdstrike, reported that the intrusion occurred in May.

A 200+ page document that appears to be a Democratic anti-Trump playbook compiled by the Democratic National Committee has leaked online following this week’s report that the DNC was breached by Russian hackers. In it, Trump is pilloried as a “bad businessman” and “misogynist in chief.”

The document—which according to embedded metadata was created by a Democratic strategist named Warren Flood—was created on December 19th, 2015, and forwarded to us by an individual calling himself “Guccifer 2.0,” a reference to the notorious, now-imprisoned Romanian hacker who hacked various American political figures in 2013.  Gwaker.com, others such as Motherjones, thesmokinggun and Americanthinker also reported this.

WikiLeaks publishes the first in a series of leaked emails taken from the DNC.

WikiLeaks releases a statement on Twitter reading, “Today, Friday 22 July 2016 at 10:30am EDT, WikiLeaks releases 19,252 emails and 8,034 attachments from the top [personel] of the US Democratic National Committee — part one of our new Hillary Leaks series,” the introduction says.

“The leaks come from the accounts of seven key figures in the DNC,” including Communications Director Luis Miranda (10,770 emails), National Finance Director Jordon Kaplan (3,797 emails), Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer and others. The newly released emails cover the period from January 2015 through May 25, 2016.

The Daily Mail, on December 14, 2016 reported “Ex-British ambassador who is now a WikiLeaks operative claims Russia did NOT provide Clinton emails – they were handed over to him at a D.C. park by an intermediary for ‘disgusted’ Democratic whistleblowers.

The 4 Most Damaging Emails From the DNC WikiLeaks Dump – WikiLeaks leaked nearly 20,000 emails on Friday from top Democratic National Committee officials, exchanged from January 2015 through May 2016. Several emails released show that although the DNC was supposed to remain neutral during the primary contest, officials grew increasingly agitated with Bernie Sanders and his campaign, at some points even floating ideas about ways to undermine his candidacy.

Regardless of who was behind the leak, the fallout for the DNC has been severe. Just one day before the Democratic convention was set to begin, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced her resignation, effective at the end of the week. And as expected, Sanders supporters, hundreds of whom are delegates at the convention, are furious about the content of the emails.  ABC news.

In my humbled opinion, contrary to all of the current hype in the news, the purpose of DNC email release  was to stir up Sanders delegates not benefit DJT.

“The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter,” a statement from the FBI reads.

The FBI and Justice Department are investigating a computer hack of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign [analytics server] in addition to its examination of intrusions of other Democratic Party organizations [the DNC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC)], two law enforcement officials said Friday.  CNN July 30, 2016

A Clinton aide said the hackers had access to the analytics program’s server for approximately five days. The analytics data program is among many systems accessed to conduct voter analysis.

The aide noted further that according to the campaign’s outside cyber security expert, the hack of this analytics data program could not have resulted in access to Clinton campaign internal emails, voicemails, computers or other internal communications and documents. Those are completely independent systems.

The revelation comes just days after the leak of thousands of Democratic National Committee emails — US officials allege Russian hackers — prompted major turmoil within the party, causing the abrupt resignation of its chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

HRC contradicts both CIA and FBI on Russian motives for intrusion into DNC and Podesta systems. According to HRC Vladimir V. Putin directed the attacks and release of information, which were intended “to undermine our democracy because he has a personal beef against me.”

Further amplifying on the Russian motivation ““Putin publicly blamed me for the outpouring of outrage by his own people, and that is the direct line between what he said back then and what he did in this election,”  Daily Mail.
